Designer: Bernard Chandran Bernard Chandran seemed to have rediscovered his geometry set for his S/S '09 collection.
Influenced by the pop culture of the east, his designs took on bold and geometrical shapes, that experimented with curves and angular cuts; in both long and short dresses.
Flamboyant and experimental, his eveningwear collection played with 3D distorted rectangles, triangles and voluminous semi-circles on: collars, pockets, shoulders and sleeves; to give his dresses their unusual shapes.
Finished off with metal studs and crystals (to accentuate his design dimensions and chosen fabric textures), the collection succeeded in dispelling the predictable characteristics of East-Asia designs.
Designer: bora aksu Bora Aksu held onto the Victoriana trend of last season for S/S '09, with a collection steeped in high frill collars, pretty bow blouses, puff sleeves and hems.
Throwing in a peasant bonnet to top off some of his dresses — and shrouding others with sugary coloured organza capes — the overall look was reminiscent of the China dolls bought for titled girls born of the era.
Designer: Falguni & Shane Peacock, Rocky S
Aimed at women who love to dress, Falguni & Shane Peacock's label showed off the husband and wife's talent for using silks, satin and georgette fabrics for dresses destined to be worn at exclusive resorts (around the world) or red carpet events.
Benefitting from their gift of teaming exotic prints with vibrant colours, the pair lavishly incorporate gems, diámantes, semi precious stones, ostrich feathers and crystal embellishments; to produce statement pieces that were dreamy, romantic and youthful.
Dubbed the Prince and Princess of prints at L.A Fashion Week (this year), the pair's debut at London Fashion Week marked a new contender in the luxury eveningwear market.
Rocky S playful S/S '09 collection combined relaxed yet impish dresses with edgy sexy shorts and sequin hoodies. Drawing on a variety of elements, it's eclectic mix of colour, texture and style; produced a sassy collection that revelled in a woman's feminine beauty.
Designer: Inbar Spector The ghost of A/W'08 gothic trend was the essential theme to Inbar Spector S/S '09 collection.
Refusing to rely on the effervescent bright colours and floral patterns (usually associated with summer), the designer — instead — chose to rely on convoluted puff ball shrugs and skirts to counter the austere edge of a very dark collection.
Drapes, bondage, zips, backless jackets and contrasting lace (embellished with subtle sequins); provided the accents on dresses, tight pvc trousers, and tulle skirts.
With the only light coming from a finalé white tulle confectionary dress and some pearlescent blue separates in between, Inbar Spector took summer dressing to sombre depths.
