Avsh Alom Gur LFW A/W 08

Designer: avsh alom gur
Avsh Alom Gur took embellishment to a new stratosphere with his huge, oversized jewels used on collars, belts and arm bracelets.

For him, there was no room for subtlety. Bright coloured fur in red, blue and multi-coloured hues, were pushed down to the hem of dresses, to give them the weight needed for shape.

Patterns either came in two-tonal designs, geometric or in, a brushed strokes (similar to those for S/S 08) that drew African tribal faces.

Folk, gypsy, creole and ethnic prints, were his references and he used them, in the shapes and patterned fabrics for his A/W '08 collection.

Prominent Colours: Antique Rose, Chocolate Brown, , Mint Green, Emerald Green, Orange, Sand, Toffee, Yellow

Berube LFW A/W 08

Designer: bËrubË
A/W 08/09 marks the seventh season Bërubë has appeared at London Fashion Week.

Body-conscious with bold forms and crisp edges, oversized pockets are a repeated theme in the collection, so too the use of wet-look fabrics that were first seen in the labels S/S '08 collection.

Trousers featuring enlarged pockets that wrap round from front to back in practical to ornamental style (as they drape and fall), made for an interesting design feature.

White, black and grey are broken up with pops of fluorescent pink and crackling silver.

Random 'origami' pleats and looped and folded ribbon trims, form the make-up in the finalé monochrome bandeau dress.

Prominent Colours:
White, Black, Grey, Pink

Fabrics/Patterns: Wool, Silk, Chiffon, Metallic, PVC

Bora Aksu LFW AW 08

Designer: bora aksu
Bora Aksu took a trip back to Victorian London in time for tea with Miss Haversham and Co., who provided him with the basis for a collection themed on Gothic.

Saturated with the use of ruffles on everything from dresses, skirts to bibs on the front of blouses, Aksu fussed up each creation to his hearts content.

No place for trousers here (as a women's place was in her femininity back then) instead, each piece bore bows and billowing volume on puff-ball hem skirts, hooded capes and sleeves.

With only the length of the skirts, sheerness of the fabrics and the vibrancy of the colours used to denote the true age of his retrospective collection, Aksu finished the whole look off with Salvation Army style bonnets.

Prominent Colours: Black, Orange, Purple, Pale Pink, Navy Blue, Metallic Bronze

Fabrics/Patterns: Chiffon, Crepe, Organza, Silk, Satin, Tulle
