Gareth Pugh has collaborated with cosmetic giant M·A·C to present his new film — directed by Ruth Hogben — at Milk, (located in the Meatpacking District of New York), this Sunday the 13th of September.
Fashion Week guests will attend a private viewing between 8 - 10pm at Milk Studios on 450 West 15th Street, after which, from 10pm until midnight, it will be opened up to the public including design school students, at 449 W 14th Street. These guests will be activated through M·A·C's facebook page to which anyone can join. Fans will then be sent event details by 10 September latest.
"When M·A·C invited me to be part of their New York Fashion Week plans, I thought it was the perfect opportunity for me to make a new fashion film... It will hopefully set the mood for my catwalk show which will take place as usual in Paris. It will represent the essence of what the show this season is about, although it couldn't be further from a trailer, it's more of an abstract insight. I am very honoured to be able to come to New York and be a part of fashion week and would like to extend my thanks and gratitude to all the people who have made this project possible." Gareth Pugh
“The M·A·C and Milk partnership is an evolution, a truly integrated collaboration between fashion and makeup artistry,” says John Demsey, Group President, Estée Lauder Companies. “We have supported Gareth for many seasons and when the M·A·C & Milk partnership started coming to life we knew that he had to be involved. Gareth has created a conceptual film in support of M·A·C & Milk, which will be launched on September 13th. This film presentation is exactly the kind of work we hoped the M·A·C & Milk initiative would inspire. And, since he has never participated in New York Fashion Week, it makes it all the more exciting.”
Gareth Pugh and the film's director Ruth Hogben, will be attending the event, as well as his closest creative collaborators.
With so many designers participating at M·A·C & Milk this season, including Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler, Milk Studios Founder Mazdack Rassi says: "It’s not just an alternative show space we are creating, but truly a movement.”
Gareth Pugh will be holding his Spring/Summer 2010 catwalk show in Paris, 19:00, Wednesday 30 September at Palais de Tokyo.

That's more like it. An effortless way to improve one's looks without too much effort.
Savvy sleeping beauties have enlightened us with a natural remedy that is fast becoming Britain’s best kept secret — sleeping on silk.
“There is no need to spend a fortune on expensive face creams and designer hair care products when all you need to do is invest in some silk bedding,” says Tim Drake of Mandarina Silk — specialists in silk filled duvets, pillow pads and bedding. “It’s called beauty sleep for a reason — it’s the time of the day when your hair and skin has a chance to repair itself. Even Hollywood’s finest are said to be fans — apparently Nicole Kidman loves sleeping on silk!
“Silk is infinitely gentler than cotton. It is 100% natural so it helps retain natural moisture in the hair and skin, letting it breathe naturally while you sleep. Cotton absorbs moisture which dries out skin and hair, and the fibres also cause friction, and these together result in bed head and sleep creases on the face. Silk, however, glides rather than tugs or twists — that’s why you see African women (whose hair is often very delicate), wrapping their hair up in silk scarves.”
So now you know.
Mandarina’s silk products start from an affordable £35 a pair.

Looks like celebrity hairstylist Trevor Sorbie has been taking his work home with him on Saturday nights, as he has compiled a list — with the help of the public — detailing the top ten beautiful hairstyles in Britain.
With staying-in becoming the new going-out, television star gazing has re-emerged as our favourite past time. As expected, the poll has confirmed Cheryl Cole’s glamorous style as the most beautiful in show business. The X Factor judge's weekly appearance on the show, has allowed us all to have a weekly dose of her hair, which always looks amazing. Other celebrities identified as possessing the nation’s enduring love of glossy natural locks were: Kelly Brook’s gorgeous waves winning 3rd place, and Victoria Beckham’s radical new cut, which pipped her into the 2nd place slot.
Trevor Sorbie, said: “It’s no surprise to us that Cheryl’s hair came out on top. There is something very attractive about gorgeous glossy hair. Cheryl’s hair always looks in perfect condition with a great colour, which really suits her. I also love Victoria’s new style it’s a great example of our daring British spirit — never afraid to try something new.”
Rehab singer Amy Winehouse didn’t fare quite so well in the poll of 2,000 women, her often slightly dishevelled beehive was named the worst celebrity style, which saddened Trevor.
“It’s a shame that Amy is caught so often by photographers who are keen to snap her at her worst, because she is a real trend setter, responsible for single handedly re-launching one of history’s most iconic hairstyles.”
The top ten winners are as follows:
1. Cheryl Cole | 2. Victoria Beckham | 3. Kelly Brook | 4. Keira Knightley | 5. Kylie | 6. Kate Beckinsale | 7. Holly Willoughby | 8. Denise Van Outen | 9. Fearne Cotton | 10. Alexa Chung

We all know nature needs a helping hand from time-to-time however, when the hand (in pot form) doesn't provide the desired results (as promised), it can leave you disappointed. For this reason Estée Lauder has conducted a five year Age Measurement Study, on hundreds of different women aged 20-70, to discover an anti-wrinkle moisturizer to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Inspired by the revolutionary science of cellular regeneration, Estée Lauder’s exclusive Sirtuin EX-1 Technology and Tri-Hyaluronic Complex to be found in their New Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Moisturizers, work in synergy to create an optimal environment to reverse skin’s perceived (visible) age, while also optimizing skin’s behaviour. So skin not only looks younger, but behaves younger too.
The moisturizers arrive at Estée Lauder counters and website from December 2008.

If you thought Monday's were the worse day of the week think again. As for Friday the 13th, well it isn't that bad. However, when it comes to Wednesday the 15th of October, women across the UK will contend with a bad case of 'the beauty blues'. The cursed date has been singled out as the day, when women are most likely to feel unattractive; that's according to new research from iconic hair brand ghd .
The survey of 2,000 British women revealed that women between the ages of 18 – 30 in the UK feel most unhappy with their looks in October — the middle ground between summer fun and Christmas party season — and Wednesday the 15th of October has been identified as the worst because it is directly in the middle of the month.
The findings show that women aged between 18 – 30 years old feel most unattractive on this day because:
— quarter of them have put on an weight since summer dieting days
— 25% are feeling pasty because our tans have faded
— 36% find that shorter days mean less sunlight, causing symptoms of SAD
— 45% of us are desperate to get our new autumn / winter wardrobe, but can’t afford it (mostly because we’re STILL paying off summer holidays)
— 32% say that their skin and hair are suffering from the change in weather
To help women feel fabulous when they need it most, ghd will be touring the country with their limited edition Pink KISS styler, in a unique mobile styling booth giving women of the UK the touch of glamour that they deserve, and a chance to make a small donation to Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity.
And because London is set to be hit the hardest, with 43% of women in and around the capital confessing that don’t feel at their best at this time of the year, the tour is being launched in the capital. All day Wednesday 15th October, you can get your hair styled at the Covent Garden Piazza, for just a small donation to Breakthrough for Breast Cancer.
Join ghd in the fight for world glamour.

The Body Shop has always been one of those brands with a conscious. This month (August), sees the launch of another charitable initiative, The Body Shop's Lip Care Duo, which aims to increase awareness and raise money for the domestic violence charity, Women's Aid.
Shocking statistics compiled by the Home Office reveal that one in three women who attempt suicide, do so because they are being affected by domestic violence and an average of two women, are killed every week as a result of domestic violence. 59 per cent of women are more likely to confide in a friend if affected by domestic violence so, it is crucial to know exactly what signs to look out for.
Tale Tale Signs
If a friend shows any of the following signs, they could be victim of domestic violence:
— Has your friend recently become quieter or more withdrawn?
— Are you made to feel unwelcome or tense when her partner is nearby?
— Has she ever said that her partner is possessive or jealous?
— Have you noticed bruises or cuts?
— Does she end phone calls or conversation suddenly when her partner appears?
— Socially, has she begun to see less of you and your friends?
