29 - 31 July 2007 — Intimate body & Beach The appalling bad weather, experienced in the early hours of Sunday morning, didn't dampen Intimate London Body & Beach show, in Olympia. In contrast to the weather outside, the stands offered a welcome snap shot of how the summer should be, through their colourful assortment of swimwear and accompanying graphics.
This year, the show boasted a variety of fresh talent, new designers, popular brands and accessories, which were mostly themed on beach and holiday life. Refreshingly innovative, the collections on display were so beautifully crafted and individual, that once stocked they would, no doubt, sell-out.
Now customary at most fashion trade shows, the catwalk experience delivered a showcase of "looks" that gave a valuable interpretation of trends for the forthcoming S/S '08 season. It also helped to explain the type of fashion stories (or merchandising methods), that could be employed, in-store, to ensure maximum sales.
With most brands offering consumers the choice of buying their bikini's in separate sizes and, with more swimwear and lingerie incorporating state-of-the-art fabrics — that provide body contouring and support — there is no longer any excuse for women not to look glamorous on the beach or for them to wear shoddy underwear.
