Don't you just love this time of year? Why? Well, it is a time when the beautiful and the talented, descend on Venice for its International Film Festival.
Organised by the Venice Biennale and directed by Marco Müller, the aim of the Festival is to encourage the awareness and the promotion of all the various aspects of international cinema as art, entertainment and industry, in a spirit of freedom and tolerance.
The line-up includes the Venezia 64 section, whose films run for the Golden Lion, the Out of Competition, Orizzonti, and Corto Cortissimo sections.
A special section, dedicated to the Secret History of Italian Cinema, will feature Spaghetti Western: Quentin Tarantino is to host the initiative.
To celebrate the 75th anniversary, the Venezia 64 international jury is entirely composed of filmmakers, as it happened on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary in 1982.
The Venezia 64 jury members, all of whom have been protagonists in the recent history of the Venice Film Festival, are Catherine Breillat, Jane Campion, Emanuele Crialese, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Ferzan Ozpetek, and Paul Verhoeven. The jury will be presided over by Zhang Yimou and will award the Golden Lion to the best film.
