Cosmetic Dentistry

Case Study
Name: Diane
Age: 50 years
The photograph below shows Diane's teeth before her veneer treatment at Dr Luthra's clinic.

BEFORE
Tooth_Whitening_and_VeneerDiane's Treatment:
An amalgamation of both veneer and tooth whitening treatment.
Whitening was carried out on both the upper and lower teeth.
Straightening of Diane's teeth was carried out by Veneers.

The photograph below shows a perfect example of a 'Dental Facelift' and how Diane looks more than 10 years younger by making subtle changes to the appearance of her teeth.

A small amount of support was added to support Diane's lips to reduce the 'lipstick bleed' effect, created by wrinkles, which predominantly affects the older generations. As a result of this procedure, botox and other wrinkle disappearing treatments are not required!

The length of the Veneers had to be subtly increased, due to the wearing of the teeth as people age.

Result:
Diane achieved a '10 Years Younger' style makeover, solely with the use of cosmetic dental treatment, in one day.

how do stars get their pearly whites?
The dental facelift
When it comes to first impressions your smile can be your greatest asset or your biggest liability! Cosmetic dentistry is often compared to a facelift, as improved teeth can take years off your appearance. Professional teeth-whitening is growing in popularity and is the treatment of choice for many celebrities and film stars.

Now, thanks to recent breakthroughs in modern cosmetic dental care, there has been an explosion in the demand for cosmetic dentistry as more and more people are following in the footsteps of celebrities and opting for cosmetic dentistry to create that flawless, dazzling celebrity smile.

Two ways to get your ‘pearly whites’:
1) Dental Veneers and 2) Teeth Whitening.

Dental Veneers
What is it?

The latest beauty secret of the glamorous and gorgeous is Dental Veneers. Veneers are one of the easiest ways to change the colour, shape and position of your natural teeth and new ultra-thin veneers may be the answer if the problem is crooked, gappy and chipped teeth, or for a smile that is badly stained.

Veneers are made from a thin piece of porcelain, which is placed on a tooth that has been filed down, a little like a false fingernail. Leading cosmetic dental surgeon and founder of Capital Dental Care Dr Sunny Luthra refers to this as a ‘dental facelift’ as it can take 10 years off your appearance. He says: "The actual composition of the veneer has changed and includes glass particles amongst other elements to make the veneer look realistic. Also it is mandatory to consult the physiology of colour and how light travels through the tooth in order for it to reflect the desired colour." He continued:  "What gives teeth their natural appearance is the way light reflects through teeth. In order to replicate this artificially, a good cosmetic dentist would need to utilise the right materials and take account of the physiology of colour and how light reflects and refracts through teeth. This can be replicated by using the material found in veneers. Over the years such treatment has improved and new forms of technologies have been administered to ensure the veneer looks as realistic as possible."

What's more Dr Luthra reveals: "The old-fashioned ways of using caps and crowns to conceal dental damage was ineffective and artificial looking. This is because crowns and caps prevented the natural reflection of lights in all lighting conditions hence they were never suitable cosmetic materials."

And there is even more good news. For those of you concerned about the amount of pain involved fear not. Dr Luthra says: “The treatment is not painful at all. At most, patients will feel a slight tingly sensation. It is a safe and painless way to transform your appearance with results that can last up to twenty years.”

How long does it take?
Most treatments can be completed in just two visits. However, for the ultimate quick fix Capital Dental Care in London is the only place in the UK where you can have your veneers fitted in just one day, without the need to wear temporary fixtures.

Teeth Whitening
What is it?
"Teeth whitening is the easiest, least expensive, and least destructive on tooth issue, way of achieving an excellent facial makeover which can revitalise the whole image." says Dr Luthra.

Teeth-whitening treatment consists of using a light activated system to whiten teeth. The relaxing treatment involves the dentist applying a gel solution to the teeth and uses light technology to speed up the whitening process.

The Benefits
Not only are your teeth guaranteed to look whiter-than-white but, they will become healthier too. Dr Luthra Says: "Teeth-whitening is peroxide based. The peroxide releases oxygen ions, which help attack, the bacteria responsible for gum disease, by creating an environment in which bacteria cannot breed. The peroxide will therefore help to make breath smell slightly better and help to combat halitosis bugs."

How long does it take?
Treatment at Capital Dental Care only takes 30 minutes.

How white will my teeth get?
Capital Dental’s whitening formula has shown it can whiten teeth up to 10 shades. However, not everyone's teeth will respond in the same way. Results will vary due to factors such as tooth density, tooth porosity, and lifestyle habits. Most people will brighten their teeth substantially with one treatment.

Am I a good candidate for teeth whitening?
Were your teeth whiter when you were young, but are yellow now? Are your front teeth healthy, without bonded veneers or caps?

If you answer ‘yes’ to these questions, you’re an excellent candidate for whiter teeth.

Is it Safe?
Yes. The Capital Dental formula will not harm the enamel of your teeth and will not affect your existing fillings.

What causes teeth to discolour?
Most stains come with time and are caused by the use of tobacco, coffee and other agents. Some discolouration can be caused by antibiotics, such as tetracycline, or fluorosis (too much fluoride in the diet).

If I am pregnant, can still have my teeth whitened?
You should consult Dr Luthra before starting this treatment. After you’ve had a consultation, you can decide if you want to wait until after pregnancy.

How do I maintain my whiter smile?
Spend a little longer brushing teeth using a small headed toothbrush. This will help you to get into the nooks and crannies of the teeth. People think that by brushing your teeth with a large hard toothbrush quickly is better where in fact it isn't!

Capital Dental recommends following this dental hygiene program:
1) Bush your teeth twice daily
2) Floss after each meal
3) Visit your dentist every 6 months for regular cleaning and check-ups

REMEMBER:
'Prevention is better than cure'

Cost of treatment

Price: £399.

Dr Sunny Luthra Says:
