People interested in alternative healthcare can now benefit from a new online information service from The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy(CSP).
The Society has launched an online guide to complementary therapies(visit www.csp.org.uk/complementary) for people wanting to try a non-conventional approach to treating their aches and pains.
A growing number of chartered physiotherapists are providing complementary therapies to treat conditions that have not responded well to conventional forms of treatment. The CSP's online complementary health section gives
information about techniques such as acupuncture, reflex therapy and massage. Further listings on craniosacral therapy, dance therapy, Pilates, reiki, shiatsu and yoga will be added to the site over the next few weeks.
The CSP's guide to complementary health also explains how to access further information or treatment - either via the Society's complementary health clinical interest groups (who monitor and regulate standards of practice) or through the CSP's online contact database, which can be found at www.physio2u.org.uk and is designed to help people find chartered physiotherapists in their local area.
Joan Davies, chair of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists, said: 'It has been good to work with the CSP to produce an online service that acknowledges the complementary therapies practised by chartered physiotherapists. It will be a valuable resource for members of the public who wish to locate appropriate information on alternative health or get treatment.'
