LONDON FASHION WEEK A/W 05
In a week that saw 47 catwalk shows over 5 days and 165 exhibitors tantalisingly seduce buyers with their forthcoming collections, London Fashion Week has grown from 15 shows/presentations in 1994 to an event that contributes hugely toward the UK's clothing industry revenue.

With The British Fashion Council commissioning artist Tracey Emin to create a neon installation in the walk through from the reception area to the Exhibition and Catwalk venues and Naomi Campbell making a welcome return to the London shows, London Fashion Week A/W '05 was certainly a week to remember!

Below are some of the highlights taken from the shows. . .

Ben de Lisi's
catwalk collection for A/W 05 shimmered and shone to a prolific beat with models parading down the catwalk in a cacophony of stylish dresses.

Simplicity combined with an attention to detail that saw sequined dresses interspersed into a collection jammed packed with sophistication, meant devotees of Lisi's designs will be spoilt for choice next season.

Figure hugging jersey dresses expertly draped featuring ruched necklines yielded effortless glamour whilst the array of printed velvet dresses made for an interesting twist to a classic winter favourite.

Not one to forget the importance of the whole look, Lisi added two fur coats in variant colours for wearers to choose from to finish off the look.

produced one of their strongest collections to date showing off their talents in producing beautiful wearable clothes in an array of different combinations.

Gilets with or without hoods will continue the trend this season but are cinched at the waist with large leather belts and are teamed with ultra feminine jersey dresses, skirts and trousers for an updated stylish look.

Luxurious cream separates especially beautifully crafted jackets and coats (that opened the first portion of the show) captured the imagination of onlookers who seemed to lap up everything that was on offer.

Judging by the extra spring Naomi Campbell had in her step whilst wearing key pieces from Gharani Strok show, it is no wonder why the supermodel has made a welcomed return to the London fashion scene.

looked into the future and combined it with the past to produce a collection that interestingly seemed to court different era's.

Long John's style trousers and prairie skirts that enliven images of the pioneers who first
set foot on American soil (combined with military jackets) weaved unusual nods to the past throughout the collection.

Yet these nods were then contrasted against asymmetric skirts and tapered trousers (plus a smidgen of sequins to inject a degree of glitz to the show) to deliver a collection that was totally different.

As for the show stopping pieces like the TV inspired dress (pictured left) and dresses emblazoned with statements like: "I Moss Marry Kate" all made for theatrical viewing.

Inconceivable when described however, strikenly, when viewed, it all worked.
