Hussein Chalayan takes on Creative Director post at PUMA
Puma and global fashion designer, artist and film maker Hussein Chalayan, have entered into a partnership that will see Chalayan becoming Puma's new Creative Director and Puma, acquiring a majority stake in Chalayan's London-based fashion business and brand, Hussein Chalayan.

Through this long-term partnership with PUMA, Chalayan will have the opportunity to grow his read-to-wear fashion collections.

“Hussein Chalayan is a proven visionary in the fashion, design and art industries. As our Creative Director for our Sport Fashion business, Chalayan will bring his use of new technology, forward-thinking design and provocative point of view to PUMA,” said Jochen Zeitz, Chairman and CEO of PUMA. “Acquiring majority shares of the Hussein Chalayan brand is giving PUMA the ability to move into a new space, expanding our reach to become the most desirable sport/lifestyle company in the world.”

In his position as Creative Director (based in London), Chalayan will be responsible for all creative direction for PUMA Sport Fashion collections and will touch all product categories including footwear, apparel and accessories. Chalayan said of his appointment: “I feel that the collaboration with PUMA both for the PUMA Sport Fashion and Lifestyle lines as the creative director and on the existing Chalayan brand is a revolutionary model for a partnership.” He continued: “combining PUMA’s infrastructure and technological platform with PPR facilities, we will be able to turn experimental ideas into reality both for the PUMA and the Chalayan lines. Hopefully, people will have the means to access real products evolving from our processes rather than only seeing them in shows and events.”

The collaboration will put an emphasis on PUMA’s more fashion forward ranges.

Au Revoir To the Lady who Made ChloÉ Hip
Chloé's Creative Director Phoebe Philo has resigned in a bid to spend more time with her baby daughter and husband.

The 32 year old British designer, copied the world over for her adept talent at making clothing that suit city lifestyles effortlessly feminine, has been responsible for increasing both the prestige and fortunes of the label.

The former Central Saint Martins student joined the label (owned by Swiss luxury goods manufacturers Richemont) in 1996 and rose within the ranks to become Creative Director in 2001.

Bringing her own brand of sass and street edge to Chloé, Philo’s idiosyncratic sensibility has been a key element in the brand’s transformation.

Producing some of the most covetable clothing to hit the catwalk (including new additions such as swimwear and casual line or younger line, See by Chloé) saw the talented designers work being blatantly copied by the high street in their attempt to supply the fashion conscious public with her brand of style.

Regarded as a fashion maverick who slips effortlessly between high fashion and low, her designs have been worn by celebrities such as Kylie Minogue and Mischa Barton.

Inevitably many of the pieces she has designed will become future classics.

with rhythmic movement. Working with his signature palate of vibrant
colours, his continued approach to cut, and modern silhouettes have kept him on the forefront of fashion and style. As a top designer for more than
three decades Stephen has clothed beautiful dynamic women throughout the
world. Kim Cattrall donned a Stephen Burrows tie front jacket in the

The Spring Summer 2005 collection is an explosion of bright to hot colors, with prints on silk jersey and silk pebble chiffon, along with Stephen's trademark fabric Jasco matte jersey. "I worked with Curb Studio on my prints. I love the prints this season, the colors; we worked with three different prints, a brushstroke, a shard, and a graffiti motif. They all reflect my feelings about this collection. It's about the spring and summer breezes. The way the wind blows through a woman's hair, how it caresses the skin. The lightness of the fabrics", said Burrows.

The October debut of SFIFW highlights the Spring/Summer 2005 collections of designers from India, Russia, France, Asia and North America.

Drawing from beautiful raw fabrics, metals, architecture and a muted colour palette, Dennis is adding her trademark details to make this debut collection during fashion week in September. She said: "I am so excited to be back in business and part of the highly visible fashion arena after having settled my previous business arrangement amicably." Dennis will have complete creative control over her collection, and is also looking to expand into other licensing opportunities such as bridal, bridge, sportswear, outerwear and lingerie in order to expand her brand.
