Asian Lifestyle Show HIGHLIGHTS

Asian Lifestyle 2004 becomes Olympia's busiest event since the clothes show
More than 40,000 people visited Olympia Grand Hall, London, on the 9th, 10th and 11th July for a slice of the first ever Asian Lifestyle Show — spending a staggering £4.5 million whilst there.  The event proved such a success that the Earls Court and Olympia Group chief executive, Anthony Lyons, liken it to being the busiest since the days of the Clothes Show.

The Lifestyle catwalk proved to be the most popular with visitors thanks to it fusing fashion, dance and music together and using models that had been specially flown in from Bombay. Showcasing on the huge runway were the latest collections from some of the biggest names in Asian fashion as well as up and coming designers.

Leading fashion houses like: RCKC and RDC were amongst the designers, who's innovative and vibrant array of east meets west fashion exhibited intelligent styles married together with dramatic cuts.

Delighted with the show’s success Anthony Lyons said, “Asian Lifestyle is one of the first launch shows to be held in Earls Court and Olympia since our acquisition of EC&O Group in May. The opening day saw one of the highest attendances for a launch show at Olympia, which I believe is a tribute to the event’s unique combination of imaginative content and the organisers’ ability to tap into public interest and enthusiasm for Asian culture. It is a pleasure to welcome such a bold, creative and successful show to our venue and I look forward to watching the show go from strength-to-strength.”

The entertainment stage was also popular amongst visitors where music maestro Rishi Rich, R’n’B sensation Jay Sean and Canadian songster Raghav performed to hoards of screaming fans. Visitors were thrilled by the exclusive autograph signings with silver screen Bollywood beauties  Bipasha Basu, Sonali Bendre and Bollywood heartthrob John Abraham.

There was something to cater to the needs of each and every guest, from astrology readings and beauty makeovers to the cookery demonstration theatre and a recruitment village.

Show director Tony Lit, managing director of Sunrise Radio, and show organiser Vijay Saggar, managing director of ECOBARS Ltd, said of the show: "We have turned this event around in 20 weeks and are thrilled with the results. The show is all about celebrating the best in UK British Asian life and is a landmark in the ever-increasing achievements of the Asian community. We look forward to coming back bigger and better next year.”
