With the UK High Street wallowing in the plight of chain stars that have turned to dogs, it is refreshing to see a retailer getting their collections right. So asks Suzanne Hart, how does Zara do it?
Ever since their first store opened on Regent Street in November 1998, the Spanish label ZARA has done wonders to enliven our staid British High Street.
Taking residence in the former site of the Queen's jewellers, Garrard's, the 14,000 sq. ft store (spread over 3 floors) was an instant hit with customers who sought good quality affordable clothing that managed to retain their individuality.
Season after season, ZARA (owned by Inditex Group) came up with the goods to reveal the talent of their designers (around 30-40 of them) who so cleverly interpret the looks of the catwalk.
We put the following questions to ZARA to find out how they manage to do it.
